BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS – On Wednesday April 24, 2024, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) announced that Sylvia Reyna, a 10th grade student at Edinburg High School, was the winner of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition. Reyna’s winning piece, “Legacy” will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol. This year, the office of Congressman Gonzalez received a record number of entries, totaling 108 from 17 high schools in the 34th Congressional District of Texas.

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) announced a total of $17,759,130 allocated from the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Shelter and Services Program (SSP), which financially supports border communities providing humanitarian services to migrants. The final allocation totals will be released by the U.S. Department of Education in June of 2024.

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Yesterday, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) joined three of his Texas Democratic Congressional colleagues in sending a letter to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy outlining concerns with the United States Postal Service (USPS) plan to consolidate mail processing operations from Corpus Christi and McAllen to San Antonio. The proposed change will likely lead to increased disruptions and slower mail delivery times throughout South Texas.
