Congressman Gonzalez Statement on Loss of Community Leader, Attorney, and South Texan Thomas G. Rayfield

MCALLEN, TEXAS - Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) released a statement following the loss of community leader, attorney, and fellow South Texan, Thomas G. Rayfield.  

“It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of my dear friend and confidant Thomas G. Rayfield. The loss of Tom has deeply struck the hearts of many people who knew him. I want to offer my sincerest condolences to Tom’s family and friends during this extremely difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones.”  

“Tom was extremely dedicated to his career. This was very apparent during his 30 years of service to our community. He was an honest man and a champion for the underprivileged. He never forgot the oath he took as a lawyer, stood his ground and faced challenges head-on, and never backed down from a fight when he believed in something. Tom was the epitome of what it means to be a South Texan. He will be sorely missed.”
