Flag Order Form

Our office is proud to help constituents obtain an American flag flown over the U.S. Capitol in honor of a special occasion, individual, or organization. Each flag comes with an official certificate from the Architect of the Capitol noting the date it was flown and the honoree’s name or event. 

How to Request a Flag 

To request a flag, please complete our flag order form and submit payment online. All requests must be received at least 3 weeks before the desired fly date. 

Flags are available in different sizes and fabrics. All flag purchases include a dedication message, which may be customized for the recipient. You may choose to have your new flag flown over the U.S. Capitol for an additional charge. Flags flown over the Capitol include a certificate that can be personalized for a specific person, event, or organization. 

*All flag orders will be delivered to the nearest district office based on the shipping address provided. Customers will be notified once their order is ready for pickup. Please note that home delivery is not available at this time.

Q&A  

How Long Does It Take to Process a Flag? 

Flag requests usually take about three to four weeks to be processed and shipped to our district office. 

How Will I Receive My Flag? 

All flag orders will be delivered to the nearest district office based on the shipping address provided. Once a flag is delivered, our office will be in contact with you to schedule a time for pickup. 

What Size or Material Flag Should I Order? 

Flying flags outdoors  

• Nylon flags are typically flown outside.   

• The most common flagpole outside of homes is 20 feet and is best suited for either a 3’x5’ or a 4’x6’ flag.  

• Wall-mount and porch flagpoles are typically around 6 feet and are best suited for a 3’x5’ flag.  

Flying flags outdoors 

• Cotton is commonly used for ceremonial flags that require up-close display, such as burial services.  

• 3’x5’Cotton is most common for a display case. 

Can I Order Flags in Advance? 

Yes. You can place flown flag orders in advance and select the date on which you want the flag to fly.
