WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) has announced that President Donald J. Trump has approved a federal disaster request for Individual Assistance for Cameron and Hidalgo Counties. The declaration follows severe weather in June that caused up to seven feet of flooding in some areas of the Rio Grande Valley.

Congressman Gonzalez is encouraging residents to apply for this assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) has sent a second letter to both President Donald J. Trump, and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Administrator William B. Long requesting that federal disaster assistance be granted for Texas' Rio Grande Valley, and Coastal Bend. This funding would assist in recovery efforts following recent severe weather and flooding.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) issued the following statement in response to Texas Governor Greg Abbott's inclusion of Brooks, Duval, Jim Wells, and Starr Counties in the State Disaster Declaration. In response to recent severe weather and flooding, the following counties in South Texas have now been included in the disaster declaration: Aransas, Brooks, Cameron, Duval, Hidalgo, Jim Wells, Nueces, San Patricio, Starr, and Willacy Counties.

WASHINGTON - Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) is encouraging eligible applicants to apply for the Housing Preservation Grant program, also known as Program 101, and Farm Labor Housing Direct Loans and Grants for Fiscal Year 2018, under the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

These funding streams provide sponsoring organizations with the resources necessary to repair or rehabilitate housing occupied by low and very low-income people. Funding can also be used to construct, improve, repair and purchase housing for domestic farm laborers.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) issued the following statement in response to U.S. District Judge Dana Sabraw's decision to grant a preliminary injunction to block the administration's family separation methods under the ‘zero-tolerance' policy. Judge' Sabraw's injunction orders the federal government to implement family reunification procedures.

Judge Sabraw serves under the jurisdiction of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) issued the following statement in response to news that First Lady Melania Trump will once again visit with immigrant children separated from their families at the U.S.-Mexico border.

On Wednesday morning, Hidalgo County Precinct 1 Commissioner David Fuentes also sent a letter inviting Mrs. Trump to witness the devastation and loss of property the Rio Grande Valley suffered after severe flooding.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) is encouraging eligible applicants to take advantage of school safety grants offered by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), the Office of Justice Programs (OJP), the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), and the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS). Available grants offer staff, faculty, and students threat-risk training and resources to help implement new security protocols, both on and off school campuses.
