Congressman Gonzalez Announces Over $1.2 Million to Enhance Edinburg Fire Department Capacity
WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) has announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded the City of Edinburg a $1,288,821 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant. This funding will allow the City of Edinburg Fire Department to hire an expected 12 new firefighters.
“The Edinburg Fire Department provides vital emergency services to the community,” Congressman Gonzalez said. “I would like to thank FEMA for investing in the Rio Grande Valley’s first responders. I will continue to work in Congress to bring this type of funding to fire departments across the 15th District of Texas.”
