Congressman Gonzalez Monitoring Weather Conditions in 15th District of Texas, in Contact with Emergency Management Officials during Weather Event

September 14, 2018

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) is monitoring weather conditions in the 15th District of Texas given weather predictions of heavy rain expected over the weekend that could cause flooding in Central and South Texas.

He also issued the following statement thanking Texas Governor Greg Abbott for issuing a State Disaster Declaration that includes all counties in the 15th District of Texas. This covers Brooks, Duval, Guadalupe, Hidalgo, Jim Hogg, Karnes, Live Oak and Wilson Counties.

"On behalf of all Central and South Texans bracing for severe weather and flooding, I would like to thank Governor Abbott for taking steps to ensure that residents in the storm's path have access to state resources for a quick recovery. I thank our first responders, emergency management personnel, and local and state officials who are ready to provide assistance. I am monitoring weather conditions in the region and in constant communication with local officials, the Texas Division of Emergency Management, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. I have said it before that Texans have the grit to weather the storm and the strength to rebuild once the storm passes – I will continue working with local, state, and federal officials to maintain this sentiment."
