WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) today announced that the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) awarded the City of Hidalgo and Hidalgo Economic Development Corporation $1,200,000 for infrastructure and employment projects.

This EDA investment will support the construction of a water and sewer system and new road in the City of Hidalgo. The improvements will ease the long-term economic distress in the area and support private investment and job creation throughout the region.

The application period for Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 opened today and will remain open until 5 p.m. ET on Friday, October 26, 2018.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) today announced that the U.S. Department of Treasury's Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI) has awarded $950,000 to Affordable Homes of South Texas, Inc. in McAllen, Texas for Fiscal Year 2018. The funding will jumpstart additional affordable housing projects in South Texas communities.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) today announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Office of Community Planning and Development (CPD) has awarded $1,044,198 and $1,202,024 for Fiscal Year 2018 to Edinburg and Pharr, Texas, respectively. This funding comes in the form of Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) which provides communities with resources to expand access to affordable housing, create jobs, and retain business growth.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) is monitoring weather conditions in the 15th District of Texas given weather predictions of heavy rain expected over the weekend that could cause flooding in Central and South Texas.

He also issued the following statement thanking Texas Governor Greg Abbott for issuing a State Disaster Declaration that includes all counties in the 15th District of Texas. This covers Brooks, Duval, Guadalupe, Hidalgo, Jim Hogg, Karnes, Live Oak and Wilson Counties.

WASHINGTON - Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) is inviting all eligible high school students in the 15th District of Texas to apply for a nomination to attend the United States service academies beginning in Fall 2019.

These institutions prepare college-age Americans to be officers in the U.S. uniformed services. Upon graduation, service academy graduates join active or reserve status as officers for a minimum of five years. Current law authorizes Congressman Gonzalez to nominate candidates for appointment to four of five U.S. service academies:
