Congressman Gonzalez Statement on Waste of $5.7 Billion in Taxpayer Dollars for a Useless Border Wall

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 695, a spending package that includes $5.7 billion for a physical barrier on the U.S.-Mexico Border.

"If this goes through in the Senate, the President of the United States, along with many House Republicans, just cost the American people almost six billion of their hard-earned dollars. This wall does not secure our border. This is not the solution. Mr. President, my fellow colleagues, you have made a serious mistake, which will cause the government to potentially shutdown. So much for Merry Christmas."
