WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) today released the following statement in response to the U.S. and Canada reaching an agreement for the renegotiated North American Free Trade Agreement – the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

WASHINGTON— Congressmen Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) and Henry Cuellar (TX-28) announced a $929,800 grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Education to South Texas College (STC) through their Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) Grant program.The college will receive a $232,450.00 yearly grant over the next four years, totaling $929,800.00 in federal funds. The grant was funded through the fiscal year 2018 omnibus appropriation bill, which funds the government for the remainder of the fiscal year.

This funding will assist the Frontera Beginning Farmers and Ranchers Development Project which supports Hispanics and veterans in South Texas with development and sustainability in the farming and ranching market.

WASHINGTON – Congressmen Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) and Henry Cuellar (TX-28) today announced that the U.S. Department of Education's (ED) Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Language (UISFL) Program has awarded $88,160 to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) for Fiscal Year (FY) 2018.

Grants from UISFL help Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) or nonprofit organizations, like UTRGV, plan, develop, and carry out programs to strengthen and improve undergraduate instruction in international studies and foreign languages.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) today announced that Federal Transit Administration has awarded $661,342 from its Buses and Bus Facilities Infrastructure Investment Program to the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council (LRGVDC) for Fiscal Year (FY) 2018. The funding will assist LRGVDC with the design and construction of new bus shelters – enhancing the experience of riders traveling between Brownsville, Edinburg, and Harlingen.
