"Speaker McCarthy and House Republicans played games with Americans' livelihoods and jeopardized the full faith and credit of our country. By toying with default, Republicans risked more than $12 billion in Veteran benefits, $25 billion in Social Security benefits, and $47 billion for Medicare providers. Defaulting would have risked up to eight million American jobs.

This bipartisan bill seeks to provide working families with another access point to the home buying process by providing relief to individuals and small businesses so that they can sell their homes directly to a buyer without the fees associated with being a mortgage originator.
