Congressman Gonzalez Votes to Pass Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act

December 14, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) voted to pass the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2024 which authorizes $874.2 billion in discretionary spending to support our national defense and hardworking military personnel.

“With today’s passage of the NDAA, Congress has funded our nation’s defense priorities, including a well-deserved 5.2 percent pay raise for our service members at Naval Air Station Kingsville and across the globe, expands eligibility for the Basic Needs Allowance, funding to contain China’s growing global influence, and so much more,” said Congressman Gonzalez. “I’m happy to announce that this measure also includes bipartisan language to streamline the permitting process for international bridges in South Texas and enacts, H.R. 4383, Military Families Mental Health Services Act, which makes mental health services more accessible and affordable for family members of active-duty personnel. Our ports of entry are vital to our region’s growth and prosperity, and I was proud to see this language included in today’s critically important legislation.”

Now, the legislation heads to the President’s desk where it is expected to be signed into law.
