WESLACO, TX—Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded $93,058 in federal funds to IDEA Public Schools in Weslaco as part of the Department's Farm to School Grant program. This implementation grant will enable IDEA to create its "Garden in a Box" toolkit which helps the schools promote the Healthy Kids Here initiative and increase student participation in farming and gardening. This is the second grant IDEA has received from the program.

PHARR, TX—Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced that $44,646 in federal funds to the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (ISD) for their Improving Student Achievement Through Nutrition Program from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. This planning grant will enable the district to partner with Farm to School, an organization that works to improve students' access to healthy, locally grown foods.
STOCKDALE, TX -- Congressman Vicente Gonzalez announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture'sRural Development Agency awarded $50,000 to the City of Stockdale as a part of the Community Facility Grant Program. These funds will be used to replace the existing truck, which has been in use since 1984.

TIJUANA, MEX– Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) and several other members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus traveled to the Deported Veterans Support House in Tijuana, Mexico on Saturday, June 3, 2017 to meet with U.S. military veterans who were deported. The group spoke with deported veterans and listened to their personal hardships.
