Congressman Gonzalez Launches Voter Registration Campaign in Texas’ 15th District

October 4, 2017

EDINBURG, TX—Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) today announced that he will begin a public service announcement (PSA) campaign that encourages voter registration and outlines the correct procedures to register with the state of Texas.

"As Americans, we have the ability to exercise our right to vote," Congressman Gonzalez said. "When you register to vote, you have the power to choose who represents you. Today, I remind all of you that your vote counts and I encourage you to register to vote."

Congressman Gonzalez believes all South Texas residents should make their voices heard. In an effort to reach all potential voters, the congressman's PSA will air in both English and Spanish.

In the 2016 General Elections, only 46.45% of eligible voters turned out to the polls in Texas and only 78.21% of that entire population was registered to vote. In Texas' 15th District, of the 529,986 individuals who were eligible only 177,479 individuals turned out for the U.S. House of Representatives general election last year.
