WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced that the National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) almost $250,000 in federal funding for the Symposium for Advancing STEM Latinas in Academic Careers. The federal funds will be made available to UTRGV on August 1, 2018.
WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced that the fiscal year 2018 Consolidated Appropriations Act funded critical USDA programs that help to combat Citrus Greening Disease at all-time high levels. The bill appropriated $10.5 and $57 million for the Huanglongbing Multiagency Coordination Group (HLB-MAC) and the Citrus Health Response Program (CHRP) respectively.

Mooney (WV-02) introduced H.R. 4905, the Improvement of Mapping, Addresses, Geography, Elevation, and Structures (IMAGES) Act of 2018, to urge Congress to enhance the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), regulated under the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The congressmen crafted the IMAGES Act to provide accuracy within the NFIP, which provides affordable premiums for homeowners by reforming a critical missing piece from last year's devastating hurricane season – flood maps.
