BROWNSVILLE, TX – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) announced more than $176 million to the state of Texas to assist low-income families ahead of the winter season through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Administered  by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), LIHEAP helps low-income households pay energy bills such as heating and cooling, makes energy-related home repairs more affordable, and weatherizes homes to make them more energy efficient.

This bipartisan bill would protect prospective homebuyers by requiring title insurance on mortgages purchased by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
