MCALLEN, Texas – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) blasted the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), and the state of Texas for its failures following the devastating winter storms last week and called for reimbursements for Texans in response to outrageously high utility bills.

WASHINGTON – On Wednesday, February 17, 2021, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) sent a letter to Texas Governor Greg Abbott asking him to designate City of Schertz Emergency Management Services (EMS) as a vaccine hub.

Currently, the City of Schertz EMS has the capacity to administer at least 1,000 vaccines per day, but lacks the vaccine supply. Congressman Gonzalez urged Governor Abbott to increase vaccine resources to the city.

MCALLEN, Texas – On Thursday, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) joined the Texas Democratic delegation in urging the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to quickly approve Texas' request for a major disaster declaration. This major disaster declaration would unlock federal funding as communities continue to mitigate the impact of this week's winter storm and begin recovery from this week's winter storm.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) called on President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to address the impending influx of Central American migrants at the U.S. - Mexico border. Congressman Gonzalez also urged for the Biden administration to create a humane process that allows for individuals to apply for asylum at any U.S. embassy abroad that does not place border communities at risk during a pandemic.

WASHINGTON – Today, a group of Democratic lawmakers, led by Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15), sent a letter to the Biden administration requesting them to rescind the recent Executive Order that would ban responsible energy leasing on federal lands and waters. The other signatories of the letter include Reps. Henry Cuellar (TX-28), Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) and Marc Veasey (TX-33).

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced Louise Bentsen as the new incoming Chief of Staff for the office of Congressman Vicente Gonzalez. Previously the Legislative Director for the Congressman, Bentsen will oversee and manage the Washington, D.C. and Texas district offices and staff in addition to supporting Congressman Gonzalez's legislative agenda.
