WASHINGTON—Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) sent a letter to every U.S. state governor calling on them to pardon veterans who are currently in deportation proceedings or have already been deported. The letter comes after the congressman hosted a roundtable with leaders from veteran service organizations, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and Congressman Mark Takano (CA-41) to discuss the Repatriate Our Patriots Act, a piece of bipartisan legislation that would bring home deported veterans and expedite their citizenship process.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced today that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has started accepting applications for Fire Prevention and Safety Grants (FP&S). These grants support fire prevention and firefighter safety research and development projects. The application period closes at 5 p.m. EST on Friday, March 16, 2018.

EDCOUCH, Texas – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced today that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development approved a loan of $8,540,00 for the Edcouch-Elsa Independent School District (ISD) in Edcouch, Texas. The funds will be used to build a Career and Technology Program building and maintenance facility building for the school district. The existing High School Career & Technology Education Building is not equipped to provide students with the vocational certifications necessary to enter the workforce.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced that Eric Ledesma of Juarez Lincoln High School in Mission, Texas, has won the 2017 Congressional App Challenge for the 15th District of Texas with his ‘Financial Calculator' mobile application. The Congressional App Challenge occurs each year and is a public effort to encourage students to learn how to code, through district-wide competitions hosted by each Member of Congress.
