The bill, introduced by Congressman Tim Walz (MN-01), would require the Secretary of the Treasury to mint and issue commemorative coins in recognition of the 100th anniversary of The American Legion.

WASHINGTON—Today, Congressmen Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15), Henry Cuellar (TX-28), and Filemon Vela (TX-34) announced that the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) has awarded a $350,000 investment to the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council for the development of its "Explore Rio Grande Valley" marketing program and mobile application.

WASHINGTON—Today, Congressmen Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) and Scott Taylor (VA-02) introduced legislation designed to increase the flexibility of Pell Grants. The Professional Pell Education Learning (PROPEL) Act expands student choice by allowing Pell Grants to be utilized at trade and vocational schools. Modeled after the GI Bill, it authorizes nontraditional schools approved for GI benefits to be Pell Grant eligible.

EDINBURG, TX— Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced that the U.S. Offices of Public Health and Science and Minority Health within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) $344,689 to establish a childhood obesity prevention program.

With this grant, UTRGV will establish the South Texas Early Prevent Study Pre-K (STEPS Pre-K) Project (Childhood Obesity), which falls under the Minority Health Community Programs to Improve Minority Health.
