WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) is encouraging local Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) to apply for collaboration efforts with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) through the 2019 Class of the E. Kika De La Garza Fellows Program.
The E. Kika De La Garza Fellowship Program offers faculty and staff from HSIs the opportunity to collaborate with the USDA to gain insight and understanding of the federal government. These fellowships allow participants to learn about available opportunities at the USDA and other federal agencies.
WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) is encouraging local fire departments and volunteer interest organizations to apply for funding through the Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant Program. SAFER is funded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The application period began Friday, February 15, 2019, and will continue until 5 p.m. EST/ 4 p.m. CST on Friday, March 22, 2019.
WASHINGTON – On Wednesday, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) joined a bipartisan a resolution to claw back power from the Executive Branch. By amending the National Emergencies Act, Congress will have to approve any new emergency declaration within 60 days – similar to the War Powers Act. The effort was led by Congressmen Tom Reed (R-NY) and Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ).
The resolution aims to end the practice of governing by national emergency.

Trump's February 15, 2019, national emergency declaration intended to fund his border wall. Congressman Gonzalez is an original co-sponsor. The measure passed the House by a vote of 245-182.

WASHINGTON – Congressmen Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) and Doug Collins (GA-09) today sent a letter to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Alex M. Azar in support of provisions in the Modernizing Part D and Medicare Advantage to Lower Drug Prices and Reduce Out-of-Pocket Expenses proposed rule. The proposed rule would reform the use of pharmacy direct and indirect remuneration (DIR) fees, or pharmacy price concessions, in the Medicare Part D program.
WASHINGTON – Representatives Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15), Ann Wagner (MO-02), Sylvia Garcia (TX-29), and Trey Hollingsworth (IN-09) have introduced the VAWA Protections for Rural Women Act of 2019, that will add the Rural Housing Voucher program to the list of covered housing programs under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).
