WASHINGTON – In honor of Police Week, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) honored law enforcement officers from South Texas who fell in the line of duty in the year 2020 on the House Floor. The Congressman honored police officers and Border Patrol agents who bravely gave their lives to protect their communities.

He also thanked current law enforcement officers for their commitment to public service and for their continued sacrifice to defend South Texas.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced more than $175 million in emergency funding for colleges, universities, and students in the Rio Grande Valley under the American Rescue Plan. The funding will help local institutions cope with the severe financial fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic and continue serving their students safely. At least half of the funding each institution receives will be distributed in the form of emergency cash assistance grants to students who are facing hunger, homelessness and other hardship.

MERCEDES, Texas – On Thursday, May 6, members of the Texas Farm Bureau presented Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) with a "Friend of Farm Bureau" award for his support for farmers and ranchers during the 116th Congress. McAllen, Texas – Today, Congressman Gonzalez announced that the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) will stop accepting registrations and applications for the February 2021 Texas Winter Storm Disaster Assistance Programs in two weeks. The deadline to register with FEMA and apply with the Small Business Administration (SBA) is Thursday, May 20, 2021.

WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, April 27, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) sent a letter to President Biden requesting a meeting to discuss the seizure of property along the Southern Border and flooding risks due to the broken levee in Hidalgo County Precinct 3. Congressman Gonzalez highlighted the urgent nature of these matters and the dangers they pose to the communities he represents.

WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, April 20, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) voted to protect senior citizens from financial fraud and scammers by supporting H.R. 1565, the Senior Security Act. The Senior Security Act builds upon the Senior Safe Act and creates an interdivisional task force at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to examine and identify challenges facing senior investors. Congressman Gonzalez is an original cosponsor of the bipartisan Senior Security Act.

April 21, 2021

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) and 163 bipartisan and bicameral signatories sent a letter to Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Isabella Guzman, calling on the administration to fix the Shuttered Venue Operator Grant portal. When the website through which venues could apply for relief finally opened on April 8, it immediately crashed.

Congressman Gonzalez supported the Save Our Stages Act which was signed into law on December 27, 2020 promising $16 billion in relief to entertainment venues and businesses.
