This legislation will direct the Comptroller of the United States to report on the availability of affordable housing for veterans who have been participating in any program administered by the Department of Veteran Affairs' Homeless Program Office.

Washington, D.C. – For the third year in a row, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) will be collecting letters for the annual "Valentines for Vets" program. This program allows constituents show their thanks and appreciation by writing Valentine's Day cards to local veterans. As in 2021, constituents are also encouraged to participate in the "Valentines for Frontline Workers" to show their gratitude for those in our community who have been on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic.

McAllen, TX – On January 29, 2022, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced the nomination of 16 students from the 15th Congressional District of Texas to attend the U.S. Service Academies. The academies consist of the: U.S. Military Academy in West Point, NY (West Point); U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO; U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD; and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY.

Washington, D.C. – On Monday, January 24, 2022, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced the beginning of the 2021 tax filing period which runs through Monday, April 18th, 2022. Congressman Gonzalez advises residents of the 15th District of Texas to file early, closely review Internal Revenue Service (IRS) updates, and take advantage of resources like the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to help with filing an accurate return.

Washington, DC – On Friday, January 14, 2022, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced the opening of the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) FY2021 Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S) Program application period. FEMA will begin accepting applications on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 8 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. CT through Friday, February 18, 2022, at 5 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. CT.
