Congressman Gonzalez supports an all-the-above approach to energy and understands the importance of American energy not only to power our cars and homes, but also as a national security issue and a job creator.
As chairman of the Congressional Oil and Gas Caucus, Congressman Gonzalez aims to bring a Texas perspective to Washington, D.C., regarding the oil and gas industry. He leads the caucus as an opportunity to educate fellow lawmakers about the production and distribution of oil, gas and other petroleum hydrocarbons, including crude oil, natural gas and gas liquids.
Congressman Gonzalez also supports the development of sources of renewable energy, acknowledging the potential in wind and solar energy for both the South Texas economy and American energy independence. Currently, Texas produces more wind energy than most other U.S. states. The 34th District is home to part of the Los Vientos Wind farm, the second largest wind farm in the country.

Water from the reservoirs and canals are contaminated. Now two local Congressmen say they have a plan to clean it all up.
For years area residents in Donna have heard about the warnings concerning contaminated fish and polluted waters in the reservoirs and canals.
Alex Valdez - resident says, "When they first started saying that the fish was contaminated and all that stuff they were saying that the water…you can't fish here."
The House passed a nonbinding measure Thursday to denounce a carbon tax, calling it "detrimental" to the United States.
The resolution, sponsored by House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), states that a tax on emissions of carbon dioxide — the most prevalent greenhouse gas that causes climate change — "would be detrimental to American families and businesses, and is not in the best interest of the United States."
It passed 229-180 with two members voting "present."

The House Natural Resources Committee approved legislation on Wednesday that would modernize mineral resource practices and overhaul permitting processes to promote energy development on the outer continental shelf (OCS) and onshore federal acreage.
The full committee approved the Strengthening the Economy with Critical Untapped Resources (SECURE) American Energy Act, H.R. 4239, after the Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources heard testimony from energy industry stakeholders during a hearing on Tuesday.
