WASHINGTON – Today, Congressmen Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) and Filemon Vela (TX-34) sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi expressing their grave concern about transnational criminal organizations' continued interference in the flow of cross border commerce and tourism. The members requested the Speaker's assistance to secure a firm commitment from the Mexican government to guarantee the protection of highways between the United States and Mexico used for trade and tourism.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) voted in favor of S. 151, the Pallone-Thune TRACED Act which would require telecommunications providers to block robocalls at no-additional cost to protect consumers and small businesses. The bill passed by an overwhelming bipartisan vote of 417 to 3.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced that a total of 10 submissions were received for the Congressional App Challenge (CAC) from the 15th District of Texas. The CAC is a district-wide competition to encourage middle school and high school students from each Congressional district to learn to code and inspire them to pursue careers in computer science and other Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced $1,243,658 in funding from the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs for a five-year program called Project PLEASE (Program for Leaders to Educate and Advocate for Special Education) at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). Project PLEASE will train 14 district educators from the Rio Grande Valley to administer special education and early intervention programs.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Sonny Perdue approved a Secretarial disaster area designation on November 6, 2019 for the following counties in the 15th District of Texas: Karnes, primary; and contiguous, Live Oak, Wilson, Duval. With this designation, those affected by recent drought are qualified to be considered for Farm Service Agency (FSA) assistance, including loans.
