WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) issued a statement following the vote to appoint managers for the impeachment trial of Donald J. Trump:

"Our democracy is in good hands with the newly designated House Impeachment Managers. The evidence that came before the House was a clear and convincing case of an abuse of power by President Trump to use his office for personal and political gain. There is no one better to present this case to the Senate and I urge Senator McConnell to hold a fair and transparent trial for the American people. No one is above the law."

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) voted in favor of H.R. 1230, Protect Older Workers Against Age Discrimination Act, to level the playing field for older workers and restore their rights to fight back against age discrimination. Congressman Gonzalez is a co-sponsor of the legislation. The bill passed with an overwhelming bipartisan vote: 261 to 155.

The bill amends the Age Discrimination Act of 1967 to establish an unlawful employment practice against age discrimination.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced the winners of the annual Congressional App Challenge (CAC) competition from the 15th District of Texas. The CAC is a district-wide competition to encourage middle school and high school students from each Congressional district to learn to code as well as inspire them to pursue careers in computer science and other Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced a $13,856,191 award in federal funding for the Hidalgo County Head Start Program. Head Start is a federal program that promotes schools readiness for pre-school children from low-income families.

The award is expected to provide comprehensive assistance including: educational, nutritional, health, social, and special services, to upwards of 3,690 children and their families in Hidalgo County.

"Last night's attack on our military bases was unconscionable. My prayers are with the service members and families of those who were affected as well as the Iraqis and our coalition partners. While not unexpected, this event demonstrates that Iranian belligerence will persist with or without Soleimani.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) voted in favor of H.R. 5430, the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) Implementation Act. The USMCA will set the highest standard for enforcement in any U.S. trade agreement and provide much-needed certainty for farmers, ranchers, and businesses in the 15th District of Texas.
