WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) introduced H.R. 5614, the Affordable Homeownership Access Act (AHAA) with Congressmen Henry Cuellar (TX-28), Andy Barr (KY-06), and Lance Gooden (TX-05). This bill seeks to provide working families with another access point to the home buying process. This program will allow individuals, small businesses, and families to sell their homes directly without paying the federal government licensing fees as though they were a mortgage originator.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressmen Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15), Filemon Vela (TX-34), and Henry Cuellar (TX-28) announced the securement of $285,654,000 in U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grants – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) for recovery from severe storms and flooding in 2018 and 2019. These funds will be used for disaster relief, long-term recovery, repair of housing and infrastructure, and economic revitalization for local economies.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced that Live Oak County was designated as a natural disaster area by U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Sonny Perdue.

According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, Duval and Karnes Counties in the 15th District of Texas also suffered consecutive weeks of intense drought and were designated as contiguous disaster counties qualifying them for federal assistance.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced the launch of the 15th District of Texas' first annual "Valentines for Vets" program to collect and distribute Valentine's Day cards to local veterans.

Constituents of all ages are encouraged to participate by dropping off or mailing cards to Congressman Gonzalez's McAllen or Seguin office, or by dropping off cards at his satellite offices in San Diego, Benavides, or Falfurrias. The deadline for submissions is Friday, February 7, 2020.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) published an editorial in The Monitor regarding the passage of the United States-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) agreement implementing legislation in the U.S. Senate. In the opinion piece, Congressman Gonzalez states his disappointment in the trade agreement as it does not contain a firm commitment from Mexico to address the rising tide of violence in Mexico that is affecting cross-border trade and tourism. He also calls on the government of Mexico to revisit the issue of violence.
