WASHINGTON - Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) sent a letter to President Donald J. Trump urging his administration to extend federal unemployment insurance benefits, which are set to run out at the end of July without action by the White House and U.S. Senate.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) sent a letter to the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) Alex Azar requesting the federal government provide additional financial support and stand up a field hospital to help respond to the COVID-19 surge in the Rio Grande Valley. MCALLEN, Texas – Today, Congressmen Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) and Filemon Vela (TX-34) called on Governor Greg Abbott to issue stay-at-home orders in regions of the state most affected by the overwhelming surge of COVID-19 cases. South Texas has been hit particularly hard with a surge in cases in the entire region, with one in 10 deaths of COVID-19 recorded in Hidalgo County. Additionally, 10 of the 12 hospitals in Hidalgo, Cameron and Starr County are at capacity.

Our children shouldn't be used as pawns in his political game because he failed as a leader."
