WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) announcedthat he has called on President Trump to save the American workforce by sending a letter urging executive action to help struggling businesses in South Texas and across the U.S.  

This comes as the administration’s mass deportation agenda has disproportionately hurt many businesses, including the agriculture, construction, and hospitality sectors.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) announced that school districts in the 34th Congressional District of Texas are expected to receive an increase of Title I formula funds from previous years, with a total of $171,243,659 in Fiscal Year (FY25). The final allocation totals will be released by the U.S. Department of Education in the summer of 2025.

This disaster declaration comes after an April 29, 2025, letter Congressman Gonzalez sent to the President.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) thanked President Trump for issuing a disaster declaration for Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr and Willacy Counties in response to flooding and rain that devastated the region in March of this year. The Congressman, in concert with local officials across the 34th Congressional District, requested federal relief for the Rio Grande Valley following widespread property damage to the area.

 WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) announced his recent trip to El Salvador where he met with Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele and toured several sites, including the country’s maximum-security prison, el Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo or CECOT. Congressman Gonzalez led this trip with fellow Congressional El Salvador Caucus Co-Chair, Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (FL-13).

BROWNSVILLE, TX – On Friday May 2, 2025, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) announced the winner of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition. Sophia C. Acevedo-Gomez, a 12th grade student at Veterans Memorial Early College High School in Brownsville, Texas, was the winner of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition. Acevedo-Gomez’s winning piece, “Unspoken Empathy” will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year alongside the other winners from across the country.

HARLINGEN, TEXAS – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) and Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (NY-21) announced the introduction of the Border Airport Fairness Act, which would designate certain airports within 30 miles of the northern or southern border, including Valley International Airport (HRL) in Harlingen, Texas, as ports of entry (POE).
