Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) is encouraging local Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI) to apply for collaboration efforts with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) through the 2019 Class of the E. Kika De La Garza Fellows Program.
The E. Kika De La Garza Fellowship Program offers faculty and staff from HSIs the opportunity to collaborate with the USDA to gain insight and understanding of the federal government. These fellowships allow participants to learn about available opportunities at the USDA and other federal agencies.
Washington, DC - A bipartisan group of Members of Congress, led by Rep. Tom Reed (R-NY) and Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ), introduced a resolution Wednesday to claw back power from the Executive Branch. By amending the National Emergencies Act, Congress will have to approve any new emergency declaration within 60 days – similar to the War Powers Act. The resolution aims to end the practice of governing by national emergency.

U.S. Congressman Vicente Gonzalez, D-McAllen, is reviving a bill he filed last session that aims to end the deportation of U.S. veterans.
Gonzalez introduced the Repatriate Our Patriots Act last session, but it was blocked by then-chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Bob Goodlatte, R-Virginia. Goodlatte did not seek re-election in the November midterm election.
