WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced support for The Heroes Act, House Democrats' latest legislation to address the continued public health crisis and provide desperately needed support for struggling families and essential workers, with funds for testing and tracing measures, key support for frontline workers and strengthened assistance for the American people.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) endorsed the improvements in H.R. 6800, The Heroes Act, which would improve the 2020 economic stimulus payment guidelines. The Heroes Act would allow for the Economic Impact Payments to be made to individuals who file their income tax with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), rather than a Social Security Number.

WASHINGTON – On Wednesday, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) and members of the Texas Democratic Congressional delegation called on Texas Governor Greg Abbott to suspend any raises, interest and penalties on Texas property taxes for the current taxable year.

"Texans are facing an unprecedented crisis due to the coronavirus," said Congressman Gonzalez. "We implore Governor Abbott to offer hardworking Texans a financial reprieve during this once-in-a-lifetime pandemic."

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced that H.R. 6800, House Democrats' newly introduced stimulus package entitled The Heroes Act would provide approximately $1,230,765,515 in federal COVID-19 relief funding to cities and counties throughout the 15th District of Texas. These funds can be used for COVID-related expenses, to replace foregone revenues not projected on January 31, 2020, or to respond to negative economic effects of COVID.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced $151,582,672.50 for Hidalgo County from the Coronavirus, Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act Coronavirus Relief Fund. The federal funding is required to be spent on expenditures incurred due to the public health emergency from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hidalgo County may use the funds on public health costs incurred due to the COVID-19 crisis from March 1, 2020, through December 30, 2020.
