WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced that H.R. 6800, House Democrats' newly introduced stimulus package entitled The Heroes Act would provide approximately $1,230,765,515 in federal COVID-19 relief funding to cities and counties throughout the 15th District of Texas. These funds can be used for COVID-related expenses, to replace foregone revenues not projected on January 31, 2020, or to respond to negative economic effects of COVID.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced $151,582,672.50 for Hidalgo County from the Coronavirus, Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act Coronavirus Relief Fund. The federal funding is required to be spent on expenditures incurred due to the public health emergency from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hidalgo County may use the funds on public health costs incurred due to the COVID-19 crisis from March 1, 2020, through December 30, 2020.

MCALLEN, Texas – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced the location of the mobile COVID-19 testing site in Live Oak County in the 15th District of Texas.

In order to receive testing, individuals must be experiencing at the least one symptoms of COVID-19 and set an appointment atTXCOVIDTEST.org or call (512) 883-2400.

WASHINGTON - Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) joined Congressman Don Beyer (VA-08) and U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and a group of 31 Members of Congress in urging Congressional leadership to include $71 million in funding for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) in the next COVID-19 relief package. This funding would give AHRQ the capacity to evaluate the U.S. health care system's response to the pandemic, pinpoint shortcomings, and improve national preparedness for future crises.

MCALLEN, Texas – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced a federal award of $385,000 made available through the Small Business Administration (SBA) to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC).

The VBOC at UTRGV helps to create, retain, and develop veteran-owned businesses across Texas by connecting veterans to local, SBA-sponsored technical and managerial assistance.

WASHINGTON — Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) joined members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) to send a letter to Secretary Mnuchin of the Department of the Treasury and Administrator Carranza of the Small Business Administration urging that affiliation rules not be changed to allow large private equity firms to gain access to CARES Act funding intended for small businesses. This action is in response to possible attempts by large private equity firms to find and exploit loopholes in the CARES Act and subsequent legislation.

MCALLEN, Texas - On Tuesday, May 5, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) issued the following statement:

"Last Thursday evening, I suffered a fall while working around my home. Thankfully, I received the immediate medical attention I needed.

I would like to thank Hidalgo County EMS personnel, Dr. Javier Cortinas, and all the amazing medical emergency room doctors and hospital personnel who provided me with world class health care. I am also grateful to my nurses, Rachel, Abby and Jorge who took such good care of me until my discharge.
