REP. GONZALEZ WARNS PRESIDENT BIDEN AGAINST EXPORT BAN ON HEELS OF OPEC SLASHING PRODUCTION

October 12, 2022

WASHINGTON – Last week, in response to a decision by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to cut oil production by 2 million barrels a day, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15), Chairman of the Congressional Oil and Gas Caucus, sent a letter to President Biden urging his administration to reject calls to ban crude oil exports and avoid policies that would lead to even higher prices for American at the pump.

"…American energy exports also play a key role in helping to stabilize global energy markets. We are proud that American energy exports can help offset the damage caused by those global bad actors that use their energy exports as a weapon, causing economic harm to our allies", the letter states. "Domestic energy production and exports will continue to show American leadership through this energy crisis, and it must remain a key piece of our domestic and global policy."

Reps. J. Luis Correa (CA-46), Sylvia Garcia (TX-29), Lizzie Fletcher (TX-7), and Jim Costa (CA-16) joined Congressman Gonzalez
