CONGRESSMAN GONZALEZ ANNOUNCES $647,281,716 FOR TEXAS TRANSIT PROJECTS
Including $11,033,490 for Local Transit Projects in South Texas from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Congressman Gonzalez Helped Pass
McAllen, Texas-Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law he helped pass will invest $647,281,716 to upgrade and expand transit in Texas this year. $11,033,490 of these funds have been allocated for local transit projects across the 15th District of Texas and surrounding areas.
This investment will equip our local transit authorities to purchase new buses, address repair backlogs, modernize fleets, and transition to new technologies to reduce carbon emissions. Funding for South Texas will support enhanced mobility for seniors and the disabled and investments in buses, bus facilities, and other key transit projects.
"This is yet another example of how the Infrastructure Law is delivering for South Texans," said Congressman Gonzalez. "Upgrading and expanding our transit systems will create good-paying jobs, bolster South Texas growth, reduce commute times, and strengthen connectivity in our region."
The Infrastructure Law will provide $20 billion for modernization of our nation's transit systems this year, impacting our community for generations to come.
