Congressman Vicente Gonzalez’s Office to Host First-Ever Service Academy Day for Texas 15th District

June 11, 2019

McAllen, TX – The office of Congressman Vicente Gonzalez in conjunction with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley's ROTC program will host the first-ever Service Academy Day for high school students and recent graduates of the 15th Congressional District of Texas. Students will learn about the admissions process for the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

Each year, Congressman Gonzalez has the privilege to nominate a limited number of students from the congressional district to be considered for appointment to one of the U.S. service academies. Attending a service academy comes with the honor and obligation to serve in the military upon graduation.

ROTC cadets, high schoolers and recent graduates under the age of 23 are encouraged to attend.

The Service Academy Day will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Student Union Building (1201 West University Drive, Edinburg, TX).
