CONGRESSMEN GONZALEZ AND CUELLAR LEAD HOUSE DEMOCRATS IN URGING PRESIDENT BIDEN TO CONTINUE OIL EXPORTS
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressmen Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) and Henry Cuellar (TX-28) sent a letter to President Biden, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, urging the Administration to continue exporting American crude oil and petroleum exports in response to rising gas prices.
"America's energy abundance is one of the many tools in the geopolitical toolkit of our great nation," the lawmakers wrote. "We must also recognize that America's energy abundance benefits Americans across the country. Access to the global market for America's oil producers is a key factor that tells our producers that the market needs their products, ensuring continued abundant supply and helping keep prices comparatively lower for Americans at the gas pump."

Representatives J. Luis Correa (CA-46), Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07), Sylvia R. Garcia (TX-29), and Tim Ryan (OH-13) also signed onto the letter.
This letter follows a series of efforts urging the Biden Administration to focus on domestic production as a way to lower gas and energy prices for hardworking Americans. Last week, Congressman Gonzalez called on the Biden Administration to work with the domestic energy industry instead of attacking it. In March 2022, Congressman Gonzalez sent a letter to the President asking for an increase in domestic oil production.
