Congressman Gonzalez Votes Against Republican Attempt to Hurt South Texas Families and Older Americans

December 19, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) released a statement following his vote on the continuing resolution:

“It is the job of elected officials to cooperate, collaborate, and compromise on the important issues our constituents care about. Over the past 24-hours, we have seen the opposite from the Republican House Majority,” said Congressman Gonzalez.

“I am incredibly disappointed with my Republican colleagues’ sloppy and insincere attempt at the 11th hour to abandon a bipartisan deal that would have provided vital emergency aid to disaster-stricken areas, delivered for our farmers and included bipartisan provisions to lower prescription drug pricing, fund important cancer research initiatives, and maintain vital healthcare funding for our older Americans while protecting their nutrition programs, caregiver support, and in-home services.”

“This new version raises drug prices for hardworking families and cruelly hurts our older Americans. We must do better to deliver for South Texans and the American people. That is why I voted against tonight's continuing resolution.”
