Congressman Gonzalez Sworn Into 117th Congress

January 3, 2021

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) was sworn in as a Member of the 117th Congress. Congressman Gonzalez returns for his third term in the U.S. House of Representatives where he will remain focused on working with Congressional leadership and the incoming Biden-Harris Administration to deliver for South and Central Texas.

"The 117th Congress begins today amidst a deadly pandemic, suffering economy and a more divided nation than it was four years ago," said Congressman Gonzalez. "This Congress will be one of the most important in American history as we navigate a vital vaccine rollout and work to recover from the coronavirus. I will continue fighting for the equitable and swift distribution of vaccines and much-needed assistance so that Texans can get safely back to work and our local communities have the means to keep us safe and bounce back from this deadly disease.

"I will continue working to bridge the partisan gap and focus on kitchen table issues that matter to every American, including: lowering prescription drug costs and expanding access to affordable health care; increasing educational funding, assuring the availability of high paying jobs and instituting student loan forgiveness; bringing broadband to rural and lower-income households and schools; protecting social security, Medicare, and Medicaid; ensuring our farmers and ranchers have access to resources to survive and thrive in a changing climate; developing an all-of-the-above energy strategy that works for our region; bringing our deported veterans home; and ensuring our service members, veterans, and their families have access to the benefits they earned. We have our work cut out for us and I am anxious to get back to work for the constituents of the 15th District of Texas."

The 15th District of Texas encompasses the growing suburban counties of Brooks, Duval, Guadalupe, Jim Hogg, Karnes, Live Oak and portions of Hidalgo and Wilson Counties. The congressman is a proud member of the House Financial Services and Foreign Affairs Committees, Congressional Hispanic Caucus, the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, Blue Dog Coalition, New Democrat Coalition, and Chairman of the Oil and Gas Caucus.
