Congressman Gonzalez Supports Legislation to Repeal Windfall Elimination Provision and Government Pension Offset Titles for Social Security

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) has cosponsored H.R. 141, the Social Security Fairness Act, bipartisan legislation that would repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO) titles of the Social Security Act. H.R. 141 would eliminate unfair social security benefit reductions for millions of Americans after a lifetime of public service.

"The individuals who commit their time to the betterment of this nation should not be penalized for their dedication," Congressman Gonzalez said. "We must protect these Americans, their livelihoods, and their access to the full benefits of Social Security."

Congressman Gonzalez was a cosponsor of H.R. 1205, a bill of the same name in the 115th Congress. The congressman is proud to see the reintroduction of the bill to assure that those living in the 15th District of Texas have the ability to keep pace with the rising cost of living, healthcare, and prescription drugs.
