Congressman Gonzalez Supports Formal Impeachment Inquiry

WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) issued a statement in support of the formal impeachment inquiry:

"I am deeply disturbed by the documents disclosed by the White House today. The documents detail the President of the United States seeking political and personal gain through an investigation by foreign powers. The context in which these statements were made is as telling as the statements themselves.

The law is clear: the Acting Director of National Intelligence must provide the complete, unredacted, whistleblower complaint to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence at once.

The president, in holding back information required by law, chose to violate the law of our land by subverting the ability of Congress to uphold its constitutional oath. It is my duty as a patriot and as a member of Congress to defend the Constitution, and that is why today I must support the formal impeachment inquiry."
