Congressman Gonzalez Statement on Passage of House National Security Supplemental Package to Deter Tyranny and Support Our Allies
WASHINGTON, D.C.– Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) released a statement following his vote to pass the House of Representatives’ national security supplemental package, House Amendment to H.R. 815, Emergency National Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024. This package contains the following measures:
H.R. 8034, the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024
H.R. 8035, the Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024
H.R. 8036, the Indo-Pacific Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024
H.R. 8038, the 21st Century Peace through Strength Act
Together, these bipartisan bills provide $95 billion in funding for critical national security priorities, including additional equipment, military aid, and humanitarian assistance to Israel, Ukraine, and other key U.S. allies.
“We cannot look the other way while foreign adversaries advance their agendas at the expense of our citizens and allies,” said Congressman Gonzalez. “While House Republicans remain mired in dysfunction, Democrats once again proven themselves able to govern and advance critical legislation.”
“This package will empower us to continue supporting our allies in Ukraine and Taiwan and provide additional funding for Israel’s Iron Dome, David’s Sling, and Iron Beam defense systems.”
“While I am disappointed that this package does not end the Biden Administration’s shortsighted pause on Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) exports, I was proud to vote for this much-needed legislation. The world needs American leadership now more than ever. Our ability to export LNG strengthens our alliances, diversifies energy supplies, and reinforces global energy security.”
