Congressman Gonzalez Statement on Members Carrying Firearms on Capitol Grounds

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) issued a statement on Members of Congress carrying firearms on Capitol Grounds:

"The Capitol Police and House and Senate Sergeant-at-Arms do an outstanding job keeping all Members, staff, and visitors from around the country and the world safe. I trust and respect their decisions allowing Members of Congress who choose to carry firearms on the Capitol Grounds. There is a clear history of Members of Congress being targeted with violence. And if we want to carry for an added layer of protection, we should be able to do so."
