Congressman Gonzalez Statement Following First Day of Public Impeachment Hearings

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) issued a statement following the first day of public impeachment hearings before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence:

"Today's testimony makes a compelling case for the abuse of power by the President to tilt the 2020 election to his advantage by ordering an investigation into his political opponent while withholding critical military aid to Ukraine. There is no question that Ambassador William Taylor and Assistant Secretary George Kent are dedicated civil servants that place the best interests of the United States and the American people above all else. I look forward to hearing from the remaining witnesses before making a final judgement on the case for impeachment."
