CONGRESSMAN GONZALEZ SECURES OVER $120 MILLION FOR CENTRAL & SOUTH TEXAS IN AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced that he helped secure more than $120 million with the passage of the COVID-19 relief package The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 for Central and South Texas. The package would provide approximately $124,063,667.86 in federal COVID-19 relief funding to cities and counties throughout the 15th District of Texas.
These funds will be used to help these communities recover from the devastation of the pandemic.
"These funds will help communities and small businesses in Central and South Texas impacted by this deadly virus recover, vaccinate vulnerable individuals and put us on a path to reopening. This package is not just about recovery but the ability to build back better," said Congressman Gonzalez. "I am proud to support the American Rescue Plan and bring much-needed aid to the 15th District of Texas to help us recover from this public health and economic crisis."
City and local leaders also voiced their support for the passage of the American Rescue Package:
"The City of Seguin looks forward to the crucial support the America Rescue Plan Act of 2021 will provide to our citizens and small businesses who have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19, ensuring they receive access to much-needed resources." – Seguin Mayor, Donna Dodgen
"The City of Schertz is appreciative of the approximately $9 million in funds that will be provided as part of the American Rescue Plan. We also appreciate the work of Congressman Vicente Gonzales in securing this funding for the City. These funds will be used to help our citizens recover from the effects of the pandemic and provide a needed stimulus to help bolster our economy." – Schertz City Manager, Mark Browne
"On behalf of this city's administration and citizens, I would personally like to thank the Honorable Congressman Vicente Gonzalez' leadership and dedication for procuring funding at such a critical time in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since our small community is designated as a ‘low to moderate' city, the American Rescue Plan, will thus provide needed resources to recover and maintain our infrastructure requirements, in addition to the recent weather related disruptive statewide "rolling electricity blackout" event. In closing, I want to thank Congressman Gonzalez and his staff for their leadership and dedication for ensuring funding to the City of Runge, Texas. This is a "first" for this community and I thank you!" – Mayor Homer Lott, Jr. City of Runge
