Congressman Gonzalez Secures $6,387,549 to End Veteran Homelessness
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez announced $6,387,549 for Endeavors to help end veteran homelessness in the 15th District of Texas. Endeavors provides homelessness prevention and rapid re-housing services to veterans at risk.
The grant was awarded through the Department of Veterans Affairs Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program (SSVF), which aims to prevent veteran homelessness and helps grantee provide rent, utilities, security deposits and additional financial aid for veterans .
"No veteran should end up homeless, ever," said Congressman Gonzalez. "I will continue to fight for our veterans and their families to ensure they are treated with respect."
Endeavors is a long-standing, national non-profit agency that offers an array of programs and services in support of children, families, veterans, and those struggling with mental illness and other significant disabilities.
Congressman Gonzalez has long been an advocate for increasing housing opportunities and reducing veterans homelessness, this year supporting efforts to fully fund the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness'Home, Together: Federal Strategic Plan to Prevent and End Homelessness andsecuring $1.9 billion for Homeless Assistance Programs in the House Fiscal Year 2021 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill, an $81 million increase above the 2020 enacted level.
