Congressman Gonzalez Releases Statement on Guatemala’s Decision to Move Its Embassy to Jerusalem

WASHINGTON– Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) today issued the following statement applauding Guatemala's decision to follow the United States in moving its nation's embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Guatemala is the only other country to announce its intention to relocate its embassy and recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

"I commend Guatemala for standing with the United States in recognizing Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel and praise President Morales for his courage in the face of international pressure," said Congressman Gonzalez. "It is now the responsibility of the United States and the State of Israel to provide our friend and ally with the security and support necessary to make this important move a reality."
