January 27, 2023

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) released the following statement regarding his reappointment to the House Financial Services Committee for the 118th Congress:

"I am honored to continue serving on the Committee on Financial Services," stated Congressman Gonzalez. "I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure South Texans have an equal opportunity to pursue the American Dream. I am proud of the work this committee was able to achieve throughout the last few years; from the Inflation Reduction Act to the National Defense Authorization Act, we protected the American consumer and improved access to capital to break the cycle of poverty and grow the middle class. I am ready to get back to work on this committee and fight for our region in Washington, D.C."

The House Financial Services Committee has jurisdictions over a multitude of issues pertaining to the U.S. economy as well as international monetary organizations. These issues include the banking system, housing, insurance, and securities and exchanges. The Committee also provides a check on the Executive Branch through its oversight of the Federal Reserve, the U.S. Treasury, the production and distribution of currency as well as the nation's capital markets.
