CONGRESSMAN GONZALEZ LEADS LETTER TO BIDEN ADMINISTRATION ON DOMESTIC ENERGY PRODUCTION AND LOWERING ENERGY COSTS
Reps. Gonzalez, Cuellar, Garcia continue to highlight the importance and strength of America’s energy production capabilities
WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) led a letter to U.S. Interior Secretary, Deb Haaland, urging her to ensure the maximum number of 10 lease sales located in the Gulf of Mexico are included in the Interior Department's Outer Continental Shelf Oil and Gas Leasing Program's for 2023-2028. Joining Congressman Gonzalez on the letter are fellow Texas Democrats, Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-18) Sylvia Garcia (TX- 29), and Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-7).
"At a time when our nation is still suffering from high energy costs and inflation, tapping into our domestic natural resources is a significant way to help alleviate hardships on American families, workers, and businesses," said Congressman Gonzalez. "Maximizing our domestic energy fortifies our national security by reducing our dependence on foreign adversaries for oil and natural gas."
In the letter, the lawmakers highlight the United States' ability to address both the climate crisis and the rising cost of energy for Americans due to outside influences such as the Russian invasion of Ukraine and continuing supply chain issues.
