Congressman Gonzalez Applauds U.S. Dispute Settlement Consultation with Mexico on Fair Market Access for American Energy
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15), a member of House Foreign Affairs Committee and Chairman of the House Oil & Gas Caucus, released the following statement in response to the U.S. seeking settlement consultation with Mexico for discretionary practices by the Mexican government and their energy policies:
"At a time when the energy demand is at an all-time high, the Government of Mexico, under the leadership of President López-Obrador, is violating its commitments to fair market access under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). I am pleased to see the Biden Administration acting on this critical issue and holding Mexico to account for their egregious and blatant disregard for a historic, international agreement."
Previously, Congressman Gonzalez has called on both President Trumpand President Biden to address the barriers to market access for U.S. energy investments in Mexico.
