Congressman Gonzalez Applauds Judge Sabraw’s Order on Family Separation Policies

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) issued the following statement in response to U.S. District Judge Dana Sabraw's decision to grant a preliminary injunction to block the administration's family separation methods under the ‘zero-tolerance' policy. Judge' Sabraw's injunction orders the federal government to implement family reunification procedures.

Judge Sabraw serves under the jurisdiction of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.

"Judge Sabraw, a Republican appointee, found in his decision, that the federal government has no family re-unification process,"Congressman Gonzalez said. "I am outraged at the administration's lack of preparation, but I am not surprised that they had no plan to reunify these parents with their children. Thankfully our democratic system of checks and balances has prevailed, and the courts are forcing the President to fix his mistake."
