Congressman Gonzalez Announces Vietnam War 50th Commemoration Pinning Ceremony
MCALLEN, Texas – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced that he will be hosting a series of Vietnam War 50th commemoration pinning ceremonies to honor Vietnam-era veterans in the 15th District of Texas. The pinning ceremonies are part of an ongoing national effort to honor all Vietnam-era veteran military service members who were on active duty.
The first pinning ceremony will be held on Sunday, April 19 at 8 a.m. CT at the Donna VFW Post 10802 located at 502 W Hooks Ave., Donna, Texas, 78537.
"Those who served during the Vietnam War experienced unique hardships that only come with service during wartime," said Congressman Gonzalez. "We owe a long overdue ‘thank you' to our Vietnam veterans for their service and sacrifice and these pinning ceremonies are one of the many ways we can honor them and their service."
Veterans who are eligible to receive a Vietnam Veteran lapel pin at the ceremony must have been on active duty between November 1, 1955, and May 15, 1975. At the pinning ceremony, veterans or their relatives will be publicly presented with commemorative lapel pins as a lasting memento of the nation's thanks.
Future pinning ceremonies will be announced in the coming weeks for other parts of the 15th District of Texas.
To participate and be recognized in the ceremony, veterans or family members must fill out an application.
