Congressman Gonzalez Announces Over $1.5 Million EDA Investment for Port Isabel Port Improvements

PORT ISABEL, TEXAS – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34) announced that the Port Isabel San Benito Navigation District has been awarded $1,590,000 from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) for significant port improvements. This funding will enhance berthing capabilities and provide logistical support for local businesses, boosting growth and investment in South Texas. 
 

“Whether by land or sea, South Texas is a vital commercial gateway for our nation,” said Representative Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34). “This funding will greatly improve our commercial and maritime infrastructure in Port Isabel by allowing it to better handle incoming cargo all while creating new jobs and workforce training opportunities. Thank you to U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo, for her continued dedication to South Texas and for helping address the immediate needs of our region." 

The improvements are projected to create over 1,000 new jobs and over a million dollars in private investment for Port Isabel and surrounding areas.
