September 24, 2018

WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) is encouraging eligible applicants in the 15th District of Texas to apply for funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG). The application period for Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 opened today and will remain open until 5 p.m. ET on Friday, October 26, 2018.

"Firefighters and first responders provide vital services to communities in the 15th District of Texas," Congressman Gonzalez said. "I encourage local fire departments to apply for FEMA grant funding and invest in the safety and security of Central and South Texans."

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is allotting $315,000,000 for FEMA's AFG program. This includes emergency response services for fire, medical, and any dangerous or hazardous situations.

Eligible applicants include:

  • Eligible fire departments;
  • Nonaffiliated emergency medical service (EMS) organizations;
