CONGRESSMAN GONZALEZ ANNOUNCES NOMINEES TO U.S. SERVICE ACADEMIES 

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced the 8 students in the 15^thDistrict of Texas who have received nominations to attend the U.S. Service Academies. These academies include U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. (West Point); U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.; U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.; and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y.

"It is with immense honor that I nominate this amazing group of young South Texans," stated Congressman Gonzalez. "These exemplary students are taking the first step on the path to becoming leaders and I am honored to have a hand in their journey. These young leaders, in more ways than one, embody the values that our military instills in our service members as well as what makes South Texas a great place: humility, leadership, loyalty, and a strong work ethic."

The nominated students are as follows:

· Freddy Ceciliano of McAllen nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy

· Aditya Nair of Edinburg from South Texas ISD Science Academy nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy

· Madeline Seebeck of New Braunfels from St. John Paul Catholic High School nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy

· Gio Luigi Gianan of Cibolo from Byron P Steele II High School nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy

· Ximena Falcon Meza of Edinburg from Edinburg High School nominated to the U.S. Military Academy (West Point)

· Levi Ferrell of Cibolo from Byron P. Steel II High School nominated to the U.S. Military Academy (West Point)

· Jason Trang Nguyen of McAllen from McAllen Memorial High School nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy

· Jessica Sherman of Cibolo from Byron P. Steel II High School nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy

Applicants need to be of appropriate age, have an aptitude for leadership, and possess the commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation.
